Dolby Atmos is a new audio standard for cinemas and home cinemas. Atmos brings a third dimension into the soundscape for the first time in the form of treble channels. These treble channels are emitted either by separate add-on speakers like the Magnat AEH 400-ATM or via add-on speakers integrated into the front and rear speakers.
For even distribution of the treble sound field that is not locatable for the human ear, the add-on loudspeakers emit their sound into the room in the direction of the ceiling. The reflection of this sound
then reaches the listeners, giving the impression of a three-dimensional soundscape.
The AEH 400-ATM can, in addition, be switched to direct emission and then be used as a wall or ceiling speaker. This provides various options for expanding the existing home cinema system.
Please note that, for a true Dolby Atmos experience, both the source material (e.g. Bluray) and the electronics (e.g. AV receiver) have to meet the Dolby Atmos audio standard.
